Also called “Heavy Gauge Steel Construction”.

In order to properly address the needs of the homeless, and affordable housing, we need to re-think the stereotypical definition of a “house”. For a very long time our methods have required the over-taxing of our resources to accomplish the simple act of providing shelter.

I believe we have an answer to this problem. In the United States, and around the world as well, we have an over-abundance of airtight, watertight, almost indestructable, secure enclosures. In the strictest definition it is called an Intermodal Shipping Container. We use them to ship goods throughout the world, by ship, train and truck. Because of the trade imbalance with China, more containers are coming to America than are leaving. Because they can construct new containers for less money than they can ship empty ones, they are stacking up at ports on all three coasts, as well as land-based Intermodal Terminals.
